Port Blair, Nov 14: The 04 members of the Beodnabad- Barmanallah area, who went to meet the Secretary to Lt Governor, to put their points, opposing the alleged decision of administration to construct a New Airport in their area, were told to be called back after a week for hearing in this issue with the Lt Governor.
As per reports, the 04 Members, Mrs Bhanumatihi, President, Village Welfare Committee, Mr S Boominathan, Sarpanch, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat, Chartered Accountant Mr. Vikas Lal Patel, a resident of the area and Mrs Shanti Wardharajan, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Beodnabad faced many hurdles to meet the Secretary to LG today.
However, when all the 04 members insisted they were finally allowed to meet the Secretary to LG.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, CA Vikash Lall Patel one of the members said that they were told to put in writing about the difficulties, which will be faced by public, if an Airport is constructed in their area.
Mr Vikash said that during the parley, they have also verbally informed the Secretary that if the New Airport is constructed in their area entire Port Blair will face an acute shortage of water as the supply of water in the city, is from the aforesaid area.
Mr Vikash and team also emphasized that the area is totally dependent on the agriculture and as there was no information to the villagers that in future an airport is coming in the area, they invested their hard earned for establishing their farming and agriculture businesses.
“We are waiting for a positive response and if, we will be ‘kept in dark’ and the administration will go on to construct an airport in our area we will have no option other than protest,” other villagers added.
