Port Blair, Nov 07: The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, today ordered that from today the Thoratang Bridge will be opened for all the vehicles with immediate effect.
However, he mentioned that there are certain conditions that need to be adhered strictly which are as per the communication received from GM, NHIDCL. The conditions are Gross weight of the vehicle shall not exceed 40 tonnes; one vehicle shall pass at one time; sign boards as per IRC SP 73-2015 shall be installed; In case of heavy rain, lesser visibility and overtoping of water on the said structure, no vehicle shall be allowed; in case of maintenance/repair required in the Diversion causeway structure, all traffic will be diverted through existing bituminous road between Billyground and Thoratang through TV Kulam Bailey Bridge.
