Port Blair, Nov 06: The PRI Members of Bambooflat region has registered their disappointment over the administration’s unilateral decision of using vehicle ferry MV North Bay as a floating restaurant during Island Tourism Festival.
In a letter addressed to the Shipping Secretary, Mrs Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member of Wimberlygunj area has stated that such a major decision of withdrawing the vehicle ferry services of MV North Bay from Bambooflat- Chatham area, has been taken without any consultation of the elected PRI members of the area is really horrifying.
“This decision of administration is destined to cause great inconvenience to the commuters in this sector,” Mrs Mariam stated in her letter.
She further stated that the general public has already started approaching the PRIs. “The commuters are already facing problems due to shortage of vehicle-ferry services in Chatham- Bambooflat sector and if one of the operating vessels is withdrawn, this will affect the community adversely,” Mr Mariam stated.
She finally requested the Shipping Secretary to look into the matter and review the decision taken in this regard. She has submitted the letter inked by other social workers as well as PRI members of the area.
