Port Blair, Nov 04: A delegation consisting of 60 members from Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organization of Hyderabad Chapter is on visit to these Islands and had an interaction meeting with the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) today at Sinclair’s Bay View Hotel. More than 80 members including senior Members of ACCI participated in the interaction meeting. Ms. Pooja Joshi, Secretary (Tourism) was the Chief Guest.
In his welcome speech Shri Girish Arora, President ACCI briefly mentioned about the activities of the Chamber and explained the investment opportunities available for the entrepreneurs in these Islands. Ms. Pooja Joshi in her key note address stated the various infrastructures created by the A&N Administration in various fields especially in the tourism point of view and stated the investment opportunities in these Islands. She gave a vivid picture of A&N Islands and its scenic beauty and the necessity to keep the fragile eco systems prevailing in these Islands. She also attended to various queries raised by the delegates on different aspects of these Islands. Dr. Poonam Arora, Chairperson, Social Welfare Board was the Guest of Honour and in her speech she narrated various skill development programme of the Government of India and its implementation through Social Welfare Board and A&N Administration for the up-liftment of women in these Islands. The Chairperson narrated various skill development programme undertaken with the help of CSR activities for the locals with the assistance of Self Help Groups. She requested the visiting dignitaries to venture into business partnership with the local Self Help Groups in providing techniques and design help for developing jewelry made out of coconut and shells so that the local craftsman could be able to implement the latest technique and design in to practice. She also requested to extend the research and development of skill in coconut shell crafts in these Islands. Shri Mohammed Jadwet extended vote of thanks to all the participants and expressed gratitude to Secretary (Tourism) in accepting the invitation as Chief Guest in the interaction meeting.
