Port Blair, Oct 31: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration organized various awareness programmes to create awareness among the public regarding the harmful effects of plastic on environment and all living creatures, including human beings. It would be difficult to achieve the goal of collection and disposal of plastic waste, including single use plastic items without larger public participation and support.
On Nov 3, 2019, the Andaman Nicobar Pollution Control Committee and Department of Science & Technology will distribute cloth bags during Junglighat Sunday market from 7 am to 11 am. People have been requested to participate in the campaign by bringing 5 or more polythene carry bags, non woven bags, or any kind of plastic packaging pouches etc. and get one cloth bag in exchange of the same. The collected plastic will be either used in road making or disposed off scientifically.
