Port Blair, Oct 30: The Fisheries Sub-Station, Nancowrie conducted an awareness programme on various Departmental Schemes under UT Plan, RKVY and Blue Revolution at Community Hall, Kakana, Nancowrie today. Dr. Akansha Singh from RRCA, Under Ministry of AYUSH, Shri P. Ishwar Rao, Asst. Fisheries Development Officer, Smt. Prabhawati, Incharge, Agriculture Department, Kamorta and the tribal community of the area attended the programme.
During the programme, the Asst. Fisheries Development Officer elaborated on the guidelines of each scheme and encouraged the fishermen to avail the benefits of the schemes on 75% subsidy for purchase/construction of Motorized fishing boats, Fish Transport Vehicle, Deep Freezers, Inboard/Outboard engines, Essential Fishery Requisite etc. He also informed about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) formulated by the Department for sanction of loan from Banks/Financial Institutions to avail the schemes. Dr. Akansha Singh conducted free Ayurveda Medical Camp for the tribal community. Smt. Prabhawati urged the participants to avail the Agricultural inputs on subsidy and encouraged them for cultivation of vegetable crops through organic maneuvering and kitchen gardening.
Shri V. Ganga Rao, Fisheries Field Assistant exhorted the fishermen to carry life jackets/Buoys and fishermen ID cards while fishing.
