Port Blair, Oct 24: Here is yet another good news for people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands who have been paying heavily for limited cable channels available with the local cable TV operators, since last several years.
Now, it has been learnt from highly placed sources that Tata Sky, one of the leading DTH operator of India, is all set to start full fledged operation in Andaman and Nicobar Island within 4 months.
Senior engineers of Tata Sky are frequently visiting Andaman and Nicobar Island and testing signals so that every corner of Andaman and Nicobar Island gets maximum signal strength, for this necessary adjustments, with satellite is also being done from national level as well as local level.
It is it has been learnt that recently a team of engineers from Tata Sky visited Port Blair city and had meetings with satellite officials in Andaman regarding signal strength.
Already the signal strength in Andaman and Nicobar Island has improved significantly in last 3 years and now all the channels of Tata Sky are available in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and also the set top boxes are getting updated by itself, which was a major problem earlier.
Thousands of Islanders who are already using Tata Sky in several parts of Andaman and Nicobar Island are said to be very satisfied with the service and also the cost of channels because they are getting almost all the channels within 300 to 400 rupees range.
Moreover, once the full fledged service of Tata Sky starts in Andaman the cost of new connection will come down to Rs. 1,300 from present market rate of Rs. 3500.
