Mayabunder, Oct 23: The newly elected Adhyaksh of North & Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mr Dipankar Mistry has urged the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) to ‘pull their socks up’ to complete the NH4 from Baratang to Diglipur at the earliest otherwise he said, he will highlight the issue of pathetic NH road conditions in every possible forums in Local and National Level.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone, Mr Dipankar Mistry said that he as well as the people of North and Middle Andaman are very unhappy for the delay NHIDCL is doing to complete the ATR up-gradation work and also for the total unprofessional approach of NHIDCL.
“The NHIDCL is not having sufficient machineries for this mega project and to hide their own drawback, they either blame rainy season of Andaman or blame local authorities for non availability of quarry products,” Mr Dipankar said.
According to Mr Dipankar, the administration’s decision of giving the entire road construction works to the NHIDCL was right but the NHIDCL must have done it on a phase basis. “Digging up roads from the beginning till the end is adding to the woes of the public as NHIDCL is not doing the work in all parts,” said Mr Dipankar.
He said that he is there for the welfare of the public and thus he has already written a letter to the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands recently requesting him to instruct the concerned department to speed up the road construction works for the smooth movement of the people from Baratang to Diglipur and vice versa.
