Mayabunder, Oct 17: On one hand the Modi government is focusing on providing Gas Cylinders to each and every household in the country by announcing different schemes like PMUY etc. on the other hand in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the supply of Gas Cylinders in remote areas of North and Middle Andaman is totally irregular since August, 2019, by the Consumer Cooperative Society for the reasons unknown.
The long delay in supplying the Gas Cylinders in the district has forced the residents of the area to spend extra money to buy stoves and Kerosene oil for cooking food. Now when Kerosene oil is also not available in Andaman, people are facing great difficulties in arranging a cylinder.
Yesterday, the drivers of the Consumer Cooperative Society went on a strike putting forward their various demands and the strike was not withdrawn even today.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Up- adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman, Mr R Alegar Swamy said that he spoke to the Secretary, CCS but he did not get a positive reply from his side.
“When I spoke to him yesterday, he said he will send Cylinders today but this has not happened. Must be because all the drivers are in strike,” Mr Swamy said.
Many areas in entire North and Middle Andaman did not get LGP cylinders since August and this is very unprofessional, he added.
Hopefully, the administration will intervene and solve the issue that is pertaining to the basic need of the human being lives.
