Billyground, Oct 16: Mr Awanish Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman paid visit to Gram Panchayat Swadesh Nagar & Billyground yesterday at 10 am and met the PRI’s and public.
During his visit, he personally went to see the progress of the Thoratang Hume Pipe Culvert wherein the Supervisor of the construction company told him that the work has completed and if the Administration wants, plying of vehicles over the culvert, can be allowed.
Mr Awanish Kumar, DC, NM Andaman asked the construction company to make final checkup of the Hume pipe culvert and open the culvert by Next week at any cost.
Thereafter, DC heard all the complaints and grievances of the GP Swadeshnagar. Mr Jayanta Nag, Pradhan demanded the DC that the existing Bailey Bridge in-front the Panchat Bhavan, Swadeshnagar that connects Shantipur village is required to be expanded, so that the cultivators may bring their agricultural produce by cargo truck to the Market easily.
Further he also brought in the notice of DC about the illegal encroachment in his constituency and demanded the DC to take steps to stop this illegal activity.
Further, the DC visited Harinagar Gram Panchayat on the request of Mr Uttam Mondal, Pradhan along with the other PRI Members, where the DC was highlighted about the dangerous roads in the area that required immediate attention.
DC also saw some places with huge land sliding and few families are under threat following which the DC immediately advised the Pradhan, Harinagar to immediate prepare proposal through MGNREGA and make Net Graveling to protect all those important houses from land sliding.
