Port Blair, Oct 16: All Drivers CCS, Port Blair today staged protest in front of CCS Office Aberdeen Bazaar and demanded Up-gradation of pay scale to Skilled Truck Drivers as they are serving the firm since land 10 to15 years. They also demanded other allowances, which they said that the CCS must make them eligible for those allowances.
On the existing service condition the drivers of this institution are treated as semi skilled workers and their salary is being paid accordingly. But they said that as per labour commissioner norms they must be treated as highly skilled workers their salary must be brought at par with the minimum wages applicable to the highly skilled workers. The strike started at 8.30 AM and continued till 4.30 PM. Tomorrow they will again stage protest to press their demands, it is learnt.
