Port Blair, Sept 19: A meeting to review the progress made under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) was held at Dolphin Resort, Swaraj Dweep recently under the Chairpersonship of Dr. (Smt.) Pramodita Sathish, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Steel and Central Nodal Officer along with Shri Rahul Gosain, Block Nodal Officer and Director, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and Shri Ch. Y. Subramanyam, Technical Officer, JSA, as part of their 3rd Field Visit of South Andaman District. The thrust of the meeting was to expedite the activities under JSA.
Various water conservation activities under JSA and constraints in its implementation were discussed during the meeting. Advice given inter-alia included to enhance plantation drive seedling distribution and to scale up the number of awareness events under JSA, restoration and revival of ring wells and construction of check dams by the concerned departments. The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Govindanagar, AE (APWD), Ranger Forest Department, AD Agriculture, Principal In-charge GSSS Swaraj Dweep, Panchayat Secretaries and other PRI Members and representatives were present in this meeting.
