PORT BLAIR, AUG 19: The installation ceremony of Inner Wheel Club of A & N Islands was held on Sunday . The Secretary of Social Welfare Smti Geetika Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address Smti Geetika Sharma congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of IWC and motivated them to work to work selflessly for the welfare of poor and needy sections of the society.
Smt Ratna Kannan , Smt Namrata puria, Smt Binita kundu , Smt Gowri Lall, Smt Sampa Banerjee, smt Poonam Arora, Smt Anita Puria, Smt Komal Anand, smt pallavi Gupta, Smt Dinaz Nobal, Smt priya Krishnan, Smt Charu Sreedharan, Rotary Club Members , Swamy of Chinmaya Mission, graced the function.
“IWC, was formed on 27th August 1993 and has completed 27th successful years moving on the twin track of service and friendship. IWC has been undertaking many big and small projects in sectors such as education, health, tree plantation, de-addiction, blood donation etc. I am honored to be elected as President of the Club. I am confident that the newly elected team of IWC will continue its dedicated service to humanity,” Inner Wheel is one of the largest Women’s voluntary service organisation in the world and the best platform to work towards enriching the lives of the underprivileged. The opportunity to make a difference is endless. And as this year’s theme rightly says “Together we can “,we surely can. My aim for this year would be to bring everyone together and work in those spheres where the need for improvement is paramount said Smt Aanchal goyal incoming President of IWC.
In her farewell address, the out-going President, Smt Gouri Lall said it was an incredible experience as the club president, Inner wheel is an International Organization that was founded in 1924. Being part of an International Club, we have the opportunity to take care of those who need us the most. In the past one year during my tenure, the IWC team tried its best to provide assistance to the needy as per requirements. Various activities started with beach cleaning, blood donation & Motivation camp, Medical Camp at Old Age Home Ferrargunj, Diwali celebration with the Pranab Kanya sangh, Holi Celebration, Mass Tree Plantation, Sanitary Napkin Vending machine for R. k Pur school, Solar lights distribution etc were conducted. After this memorable year, I also thank my District Chairman Smt Indrani Chatterjee for her valuable guidance, support and cooperation. I further thank the A&N Administration. My thank to Dr. Subramanium, Dr. Burma, Dr. Amitabh De, Swami Shuddhananda Saraswatiji of Chinmaya Mission, Sanyasini of Pranab Kanya for their support. I am happy to handover the responsibility of the club to the incoming President, Smt. Aanchal Goyal , said Smt Gouri Lall. Smt Binita Kundu ,secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
