Port Blair, August 5: The Chairperson A & N Islands Waqf Board Janab Mohammed Tabraiz along with a team of Officers of ANI Waqf Board attended the Annual Conference of State/UT Waqf Boards held in New Delhi on 29th July 2019. The Conference was presided over by Janab Mukthar Abbas Naqvi, the Minister of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India.
The conference was also attended by Mr Sailesh, IAS, Secretary to Ministry of Minority Affairs Janab Jane Alam, IAS, Joint Secretary (H&W), Ministry of Minority Affairs and other eminent dignitaries.
The focal point of the conference was to review progress made under the various component of Quami Waqf Board Taraqiati Scheme, the status of utilisation of fund, Digitization of records of Waqf properties and GIS mapping of Waqf properties.
The Minister of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India apprised the house that Ministry of Minority Affairs has included the work of 100% Digitisation work and Computerisation of Records of waqf properties in the 100 days action plan and submitted target to Prime Minister Office and appealed to the participants of the conference to initiate work at war footing to accomplish the target within the stipulated time frame.
Meanwhile, during an interaction with the Chairperson of the ANI Waqf Board, the Minister of Minority Affairs assured that soon he will pay a visit to these islands to review progress made under a various scheme sponsored by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
During the visit the delegation also met and discussed with the Secretary/CEO, Maulana Azad Education Foundation for the immediate introduction of a Scholarship scheme for the needy wards of minority section, infrastructure development support for Educational Institutes etc. and Skill Development Training accredited by NSDC. The Secretary/CEO, Maulana Azad Education Fund assured that he will personally look into the matter and extend all possible support to pass on all applicable schemes of Ministry of Minority Affairs to the targeted sects of these Islands.
