Port Blair, Aug 05: As a part of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, launched by the Govt. of India, the South Andaman Forest Division in association with the Education Department has carried out a mass tree plantation drive in various schools of South Andaman. On 01.08.2019, tree planting was done in the premises of GSSS Tushnabad in which 50 saplings of various fruit bearing and ornamental trees were planted.
On 05.08.2019, tree planting was carried out in the premises of MES School, Ograbraj and GSSS, Bambooflat in which a total of 95 saplings of various fruit bearing, ornamental and shade bearing trees were planted. The students were urged to plant more number of saplings and to conserve it in order to contribute their participation in the Jal Sakthi Abhiyaan initiated by the Ministry of Jal Sakthi, Govt. of India.
