Port Blair, Aug 19: Nearly 465 staffs working with the education department from last 20 years are now struggling to get their job regularized or getting nod for continuous service.
Addressing a press conference at YMCA hall today nearly 200 staffs many of them from inter islands told media persons to support them as according to them no one in these Islands could bring solace for them.
There worried and troubled staffs, who have been working as PPT, SCM, CI, PCC, AYA, PCC told that they have been working in Education Department since last 20 to 22 years but their services have not been regularised.
“We were actually recruited to do part time job for only 2 hrs a day but even then we were asked to work full time against the meagre salary. We won many cases against the Department for our regularisation but at present we are not even getting continuation,” a craft instructor Mrs. Madhuri Halder said.
Talking to the media persons Mr. Tapan Kumar Halder demanded that posts should be created as per the recruitment rule of the period, when they were appointed.
“As per present Recruitment Rules we will have to compete with the students whom we have taught and it’s not possible for us as we are now over-aged and their qualification and percentage is also higher than us,” he added.
He also raised question over the way in which the Administration is recruiting new staffs in a hurried manner.
“On 13th they published notification for the recruitment, last date for submitting forms is 25th and interview is on 30th, which looks fishy,” he added. The Deprived teachers are now planning to challenge the Administration in court, it is learnt.
