Port Blair, Aug 19: Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan of the Islamic calendar, will be celebrated in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Monday. The announcement has come after a meeting of A & N Hilal Committee on Saturday, Mr. Mohd. H Jadwet, Secretary of Hilal Committee told Andaman Sheekha today.
Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and it culminates in EId-ul-Fitr celebrations.
