Port Blair, Jun 14: The Directorate of Industries jointly with the A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board organized 05 Awareness campaign –cum – People’s Education Programme at different areas of North & Middle Andaman District such as Gram Panchayat, Oralkatcha, Baratang, Gram Panchayat, Kadamtala, Zilla Parishad hall, Rangat , Conference hall, Industries Department, Diglipur and Gram Panchayat Mayabunder North Andaman. Altogether, 21 beneficiaries at Baratang, 35 beneficiaries at Kadamtala, 45 beneficiaries at Rangat, 37 prospective entrepreneurs at Diglipur and 85 prospective entrepreneurs at Mayabunder attended the programme.
Mr. Roy George, Pradhan, Baratang, Mr. Suklal Mondal, Pradhan, Kadamtala and Smt. P Jagdeshwari, Pradhan, Mayabunder were the Chief Guest during the programme held at their respective places.
During the programme held at Rangat, Smt. Roma Das, Assistant Director, Industries Dept, Bakultala explained in detail about the package of assistance available with the Directorate of Industries in the form of training, finance, marketing for industrial promotion of A&N Islands and appealed the participants to make best use of the same for their future endeavour. She further explained the recent initiatives announced by the Government of India LANIDS which includes capital investment subsidy at 30% on the investment in plant and machinery with an upper limit of `5.00 crore, interest subsidy at 3 % on using capital credit advanced by scheduled banks for 05 years, GST reimbursement for a period of five years, IT reimbursement for the first 05 years, transport subsidy etc. will create new avenues of investment opportunity for the first generation entrepreneurs through industrialization. She also explained in details about the Startup policy of A&N Administration and viewed that some of the policy decision taken by the UT Administration recently under Fisheries, Tourism, Transport, Agriculture and shipping sectors will also open up huge employment opportunity for the unemployed youths of the territory in near future.
The Technical Officer of the Board who was present in all these Awareness Campaigns explained in detail about the present employment scenario and future scope of employment under organized and unorganized sectors and viewed that self employment could be the best option before the unemployed youths under the present circumstances when the scope of employment in Govt. sector is in saturation. He also overviewed about PMEGP scheme, its scope of implementation at different areas of North & Middle Andaman district, eligibility criteria, the activities which could be covered under the purview of the captioned scheme etc.
During the campaign at Diglipur, Mr. Swapan Kr. Mallick, Officer In-Charge, Industries Department elaborated different schemes of the concerned department before the participants and viewed that the recently announced LANIDS could encourage the new entrepreneurs to opt for self employment venture for their future livelihood support.
Mr. Ashish Anand, Branch Manager, SBI, Baratang, Mr. Y. Appala Swamy, Branch Manager, A&N SCB, Baratang, Mr. Laba Kumar Das, Field Officer, A&N SCB, Kadamtala, Mr. Polla Hari Narayana, Asst. Manager, Syndicate Bank, Rangat, Mr. T.Tripathi, Field Officer, A&N SCB, Rangat, Mr. Pran Gopal Das, Manager, A&N SCB, Diglipur, Mr. Mithilesh Kumar Mishra, Branch Manager, SBI , Mayabunder, Mr. Lata Bala, Branch Manager, A&N SCB, Mayabunder were also present during the campaign in respect of their jurisdiction, interacted with the beneficiaries and appealed them to adopt practical approach while selection of venture and also to develop repayment of loan as a good practice.
Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram, District Youth Co-ordinator, Diglipur was present during the campaign at Diglipur and briefed on various activities being carried out by the department for the overall development of the youths of Diglipur area, in a release Executive Officer, A&NI KVIB said.
