Port Blair, Jun 14: As a part of A & N Island Yoga Festival 2019 being observed to mark the 5th International Day of Yoga, Two-days National Symposium and Workshop on Yoga and Meditation for Cardiac& Neuro-Health was organized by AYUSH Wing of DHS and A&N State AYUSH Society on 14th & 15th June, 2019 at Conference Hall of Megapode Resort. The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. Kriti Garg, IAS, Secretary (Health)/MD (NHM & NAM) by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of Prof. Dr. B.N. Gangadhar, consultant Psychiatrist & Director, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, Prof. Dr. Akshay Anand, Neuroscience Research Lab, PGI, Chandigarh, Dr. Atul V. Pednekar, Sr. Faculty, The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, Dr. Abhilasha Anand, Consultant Radiologist and other dignitaries.
In her inaugural address, Secretary (Health) appealed the participants to spread the traditional knowledge of Yoga among the masses for Holistic Health of the community.
During the technical sessions, the eminent resource persons invited from Institutes of National Repute enlightened the gathering on advances on Yoga Therapy particularly for Non-Communicable Psychosomatic Diseases of Heart and Brain.
The practice sessions on Yoga Asasnas, breathing technique and instant relaxation techniques for Cardiac health were performed by all the participants under guidance of Yoga Instructors of AYUSH.
The workshop was attended by around 100 delegates including Doctors under Health Dept., NAM & NHM (including RBSK), Yoga Instructors and other scientific community viz. scientists, researchers, professors, spiritual yoga practitioners from various govt. and other organizations (e.g. ANIIMS, ANTRI, CIARI, BSI, ASI, ZSI, CCRH, Forests Dept, JNRM, ANCOL, Patanjali, Brhama Kumaris, Art of Living etc).
The certificate and mementos were awarded to the participants and Resource persons by Dr. S.P. Burma, DHS, in a release Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH).
