Port Blair, Aug 14: Due to shortage of accommodation in both the girls and boys hostel, the eligible students (75 girls and 75 boys) of the College are forced to stay outside, which as per Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC is not safe for the students.
Hence Mr. Sharma has personally met the Lt Governor today and requested him to consider converting an old structure available inside the girls hostel campus to a temporary hostel for girls after its renovating on war footage basis for accommodating the eligible left out girl students.
Mr. Sharma has also requested to the Lt Governor to allow a community hall of Municipal Council of ward no: 3 to be used as a temporary boys’ hostel for such left out boys.
He opined that these arrangements will ease the work of the Principal JNRM to have proper control on these temporary hostels also. Further to these, Mr. Sharma has also requested for considering enhancement of Stipend for the students from Rs 1000/- to Rs 2000/-
per month.
Mr. Sharma has also requested to the Lt Governor to enhance old age, widow, physically handicapped and such other pensions from Rs. 1000/- pm to Rs 2000/- pm which he had already placed before him on the 5th August, 2012 in the function held at Prothrapur Community hall on the occasion of distribution of Pension cards of the Cooperative Bank. The Lt Governor has reportedly assured to look into the matter.
