Port Blair, May 19: A joint team of District Narcotics Detection Squad and PS Humfrygunj on Saturday arrested two people for allegedly possessing 200 grams Charas.
Charas is the name given to a hashish form of cannabis which is handmade in the Indian subcontinent and Jamaica. It is made from the resin of the cannabis plant.
According to reports the District Narcotics Detection Squad had intelligence that two people have brought Charas from Kolkata and are trying to sell the same in Andaman, following which a trap was laid, which resulted in the arrests of Mr. Sandeep Mandal a resident of New Wandoor and Mr. Imroz Alam, a resident of Supply Line and seizure of Charas.
Of late, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has been able to crack many cases of Narcotics in Andaman, which is a good sign. What we require now is to trace out the Kingpins and their arrests.
