Port Blair, Feb 14: Clean City Andaman and Nicobar Social and Welfare Association in collaboration with the ladies of Gurudwara Dr Diwan Singh is working for Nobel cause “Guru Tegh Bahadurji Anaj bank”.
The Anaj Bank helped scores of poor families mainly widows of these Islands, who struggle to manage two meals a day. The idea behind this initiative is to collect food grains from donors and provide it to poor and under privileged people.
Mrs. Anuradha Lall took this initiative and started this mission last year.
“Since inception, we’ve served many needy people of these islands by distributing ration articles on monthly basis. This month, we provided ration articles to around 48 widows from the Anaj Bank, which is supported aptly by our volunteers and NGOs,” Mrs. Mrs. Anuradha Lall informed.
Mr. Tarun Coomar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Principal Secretary (Environment & Forests), Andaman & Nicobar Islands was the Chief Guest of the function .Basic ration packs were distributed by Mr. Tarun Coomar on the Occasion.
