Port Blair, Nov 25: To mark Qaumi Ekta Week, Press Information Bureau (PIB) organised a Mushaira and kavi Sammelan in Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW) conference Hall, Port Blair on 24th of November, 2018. Padma Mr. Awardee and Swachh Bharat Ambassador for the islands, Naresh Chandra Lal was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Local Hindi and Urdu Poets including Dr. Vyas Mani Tripathi, I a Khan, Jagdish Narayan Rai, Durg Vijay Singh ‘Deep’, Harish Chandra Rai, Shafiq Rizvi, Maqsood Alam, Dr. N Laxmi, Basu Kumar, Mehrussnisa and Ashok Kumawat recited their respective literary creations during the event. President of the Andaman & Nicobar Media Federation, K Ganeshan was also present on the occasion.
Narrating his composition on Qaumi Ekta, Urdu Poet I A khan said “Agar is desh ka har aadmi insaan ho jaye, to duniya me sabse khoobsoorat Hindustan ho jaye”. Dr. Vyas Mani Tripathi recited an enriched composition highlighting increased violence in the society and the importance of Non-Violence. He said “Jag rahi hai desh men phir se asurta, Kya Ahinsa dar gayi Aatank se hai?” On the Importance of Qaumi Ekta, Mr. Jagdish Narayan Rai said “Har dil me hai Ganga Jamuna si behti hui dhara, sagar bana deta hai ise khara hai doston”. Urdu Poet Shafiq Rizvi recited an emotional composition on the role of Mother.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naresh Chandra Lal said Andaman and Nicobar Islands represents unique phenomenon of unity in diversity in the country. “Islands are the epitome of national integration”, he said.
Earlier, Nilesh Kumar Kalbhor, Deputy Director (M&C), PIB Port Blair welcomed the Chief Guest and Poets and gave an overview on the importance of Qaumi Ekta Week and objective behind organising such events. He also thanked ALHW for providing its conference hall to organise the event. People from all walks of life attended the Mushaira and kavi Sammelan.
Various Ministries/Departments of Government of India observe Quami Ekta Week by organising cultural programs, seminars, painting competitions etc all over the country to foster and reinforce the spirit of Communal Harmony, National Integration and pride in India’s composite culture and nationhood.
The National Foundation for communal Harmony (NFCH) under the Ministry of Home Affairs organises Communal Harmony campaign from 19th to 25th of November every year coinciding with Quami Ekta Week. The foundation provides financial assistance to the children who become destitute/orphans in communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence. The assistance is meant for their care, education and training for effective rehabilitation. The ‘Communal Harmony Campaign’ is also utilized to raise funds to support activities of the foundation.
