Baratang, Sept 30: The stage II environment clearance for a sea wall of Khari Basti area of Baratang, which was pending since last nearly 10 years, has not been cleared now, bring new hope for people of Baratang.
The sea wall is important for Khari Basti, fishermen colony of Baratang area for the safety of people living in the village against ingress of creek order. Since last many years Panchayati Raj Institute members have been running from pillar to post for the same approval.
The project was accorded in principal approval (Stage I) by the central government in December 2015 while Stage II clearance was pending.
Meanwhile, unaware of this fact the APWD has floated tender for construction of the sea wall and the work was also awarded but due to lack of State II clearance the work was cancelled.
Recently the Zilla Parishad member of Baratang area, Mr. Alagar Swami and Pradhan of Nilambur Village of Baratang met the PCCF and highlighted this issue and after taking up this issue with concerned authorities now the forest department have received Stage II clearance, which means that now a sea wall at Khari Basti area of Baratang will soon be a reality.
The Zilla Parishad member of Baratang area, Mr. Alagar Swami has now expressed gratitude to the PCCF and entire Administration for according stage II clearance for this project, which will save lives and property in coming future.
