Port Blair, July 12: The Minutes of the Expenditure Finance Committee of Central Govt. have been received approving the proposal of the Administration to pay compensation at the rate of Rs. 9.39 lakhs per hectare to persons whose land was submerged in tsunami.
The Administration will be asking the affected farmers to apply in the format devised by Revenue Department for payment of compensation. The application format will be published in the newspapers tomorrow so that all affected persons can directly submit their applications to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman and Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District as the case may be. Deputy Commissioners have been asked to process the applications most expeditiously.
