Port Blair, July 12: Consequent upon the publication of draft Minor Mineral Rules 2012 prepared by the A & N Administration, a meeting has been held in the Ministry of Home Affairs on 6 July 2012 wherein the draft Rules have been discussed.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Revenue) and representative of Ministry of Mines. Based on the discussion of this meeting, the draft rules are being finalised and sent to the Ministry shortly.
The Ministry has also been requested to delegate the powers of Central Government to the Lt. Governor under Section 26(1) of the Mines & Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act 1957 to make the Rules to facilitate the grant and renewal of quarry permits.
