Port Blair, June 11: According to information the Dialysis unit of Mayabunder has become non-operational since 8 June 2018, leaving several patients of North and Middle Andaman in deep trouble. Patients in Billyground region told Andaman Sheekha Correspondent of Billyground that they have been advised by the Mayabunder Hospital staffs to go to Port Blair for Dialysis.
“How can we travel all the way to Port Blair for Dialysis in Government and Passenger Buses? The Administration must provide us Ambulance or atleast put some efforts to repair the Dialysis unit, immediately,” said a patient.
Meanwhile, the CMO, of Government Mayabunder Hospital, refused to share any information over phone. “You have to come to Mayabunder for this information,” said the CMO when contacted by Andaman Sheekha reporter.
Meanwhile the DHS (incharge) also refused to share any information in this regard when contacted today.
Now the Administration must atleast publish a press release to inform all patients about the present status the Mayabunder Dialysis unit and when it will be repaired?
This is shocking that the Andaman and Nicobar Administration takes no time to term some news items as ‘Fake News’ if not cross checked but when responsible journalists try for cross check a report , in most of the cases, top officers shy away. Hope the Chief Secretary is listening.
