Port Blair, June 11: The New Lions club of Aberdeen Andaman was installed at Megapode Nest Hall, Port Blair yesterday by PMJF Lion Dr. K.S. Babai, District Governor, Lions Club International District 324 A1, Region 2 Zone 2, sponsored by Lions club of KVG, Chennai.
Around 22 members and office bearer were installed in the club. Mrs. Ratna Kannan, Ex-Chairperson, A&N State Social Welfare Board has been selected as Charter President of Lion Club of Aberdeen Andaman, Mr. S. Karthik as Secretary and Mr. Sudhakar as Treasurer.
During the acceptance speech Lion Ratna Kannan urged the members of the club to actively participate in all projects for the welfare of the people of Andaman. She assured that she will do new projects to support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, arrange Blood donation camp on regular basis and conduct marriage of needy girls.
She assured that she will give her maximum efforts and follow the motto of Lion Club “WE SERVE” for the welfare of the people of Andaman. During the installation function, Island topper of Class XIIth were felicitated with cash award of Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 5,000/- and Shield. Further, a Sewing machine was also given to needy women Mrs. Sharmila.
