Port Blair, Jan 23: A & N Traffic Police has observed 29th Road Safety Week from 15th to 21st January, 2018. During the observance of the week, various programmes/meetings were conducted to spread awareness amongst the students and general public through lectures on various topics of Road Safety at schools, meetings were conducted with auto rickshaw drivers, tour and travels and truck unions, an eye testing camp was organized and painting competition was also conducted.
Moreover, during the week a mass Road Safety Rally was also organized and around 1800 students and general public participated in the rally. NukkadNatak was also organised during the week by Traffic Branch at various locations in Port Blair city with Police Entertainment team on the theme of “Road Safety”, wherein around 500 spectators enjoyed the programme and benefitted from it.
On the concluding day of 29th Road Safety Week on 21/01/2018, a Motor Cycle Rally of Traffic Staff was organized in which Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Traffic and 40 traffic officers and staff participated. In the evening a small programme was conducted by the Traffic Branch at Children’s Traffic Park with Police Entertainment Team. During the programme Mrs. Urvija Goel, IPS (Superintendent of Police, Traffic) and Mr. Parvinder Singh, IPS (Superintendent of Police, HQ) were present alongwith Dy. Superintendent of Police (Traffic). The Police Entertainment Team entertained the viewers with their performances like NukkadNatak, Songs and Dances. Cash prizes were distributed to the winners of the painting competition by Superintendent of Police, Traffic.
