Port Blair, Jan 23: The Chairperson, Andaman & Nicobar Islands WAQF Board Mr. Mohammed Tabraiz, has advised Mutawallies of all WAQFs to voluntarily come forward and register themselves with the WAQF Board. It is to mention that it is mandatory under the Provisions of the Waqf Act of 1995 for every WAQFs to register themselves with the WAQF Board, failing which, the Board has been vested with Powers to automatically register the un – registered WAQFs. Non registration of the WAQFs has been made a punishable offence under the WAQF Act of 1995.
The WAQF Board has presently undertaken a drive in the entire Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to update the Mutawallies about the Provisions of the WAQF Act 1995. The staffs have been deputed to carry out the Registration of all the Waqf Properties including Mosques and Madrassas. Accordingly all Mutawallies are requested to cooperate with the staffs of the WAQF Board and to carry out the Registration.
