
Port Blair, Jan 15: Andaman Avians Club celebrated the National Bird Day by conducting a Wetland Bird Walk at Sippighat Wetland on Sunday 7 January.
National Bird Day is an annual event with half a million adherents celebrating it through birdwatching, studying birds, and other bird-related activities.
The club members assembled at Sippighat by morning 6 am and a 2 Hrs long bird walk was conducted wherein many Wetland Birds were spotted. The team in total sighted around 35+ Species including some rare ones.
Sippighat post Tsunami has become a hot spot for all birders who live or visit this Island and we took this event at Sippighat to make citizens aware of what importance the wetland is to this islands and its conservation.
The club looked forward for more enthusiastic birders to join such event and spread awareness about birds in this Island.
