Port Blair, Jan 15: It won’t be a surprise, if from tomorrow severe shortage of Petrol and Diesel is seen in entire North and Middle Andaman region.
According to information all the petty Diesel and Petrol outlets had permission to sell fuel in North and Middle Andaman only till December 31st 2017, which was later extended upto 15 January 2018.
As per reports, all the owners of these Diesel and Petrol outlets had applied for renewal of the licenses by November 15 2017 but for reasons unknown the licenses were not extended before 31st December 2017 and hence 15 days extension was given by the North and Middle Andaman District Administration.
Now as 15 January 2018 is over and no more extension has been given yet (atleast no one knows about any extension, even if any) it is expected that from tomorrow no petty Diesel and Petrol outlet, will be able to operate in entire North and Middle Andaman, which may result in serious crisis of fuel in North and Middle Andaman region.
As the number of petrol pumps in North and Middle Andaman is very less, most of the population is directly dependent on these petty Diesel and Petrol outlets and closure of this outlets even for few days can cause severe fuel crisis in North and Middle Andaman region.
Andaman Sheekha tried to contact the District Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman over phone but the DC did not receive the calls and hence the version of District Administration of North and Middle Andaman and delay in renewing the licenses is yet not known.
