Port Blair, Dec 28: On the occasion of 93rd Birth Anniversary of the Legendary singer Mohd Rafi a Grand Musical Nite was organized by Srishti Musical & Cultural Group, Bengaluru at Anthropological Auditorium, Port Blair. Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Chairperson, PBMC was the Chief guest and Mr. J.N.Singh, veteran singer was the Guest of honour on the occasion.
At the very outset Mr. Shashidhar.B.Rai, singer, organizer & Director of the programme honoured the Chief guest and Guest of honour offering them shawl.
Speaking on the occasion Chief guest expressed happiness and thanked the organizer for organizing such a wonderful event which will be remembered for the days to come.
He also said that in these days of Technical revolution where technology is very high daily new artists emerges but are also forgotten alike. They could not have much impact on listeners which singers of bygone pasts have on the masses. He also reminded of few evergreen hits sung by the great singer.
Smt.Sheela Singh, Ex- Chairperson and Smt.Zubaida Begum, Ex-Chairperson hailed the effort made by the organizer for providing such a platform to Local artists on his own costs. Along with Mr. Sahashidhar B.Rai few noted singers of the Islands viz Hassan Shah, Mustafa, Ashok, Abdul Rasheed, Sajid Sulaiman, Madan Gupta, Shailender Singh, Parwati, Ramla Bibi, Tanushree Goswami and Neelima Tewari enthralled the gathering and kept them spell bound with their performances.
Apart from singers, anchor Smti. Tarannum played a vital role in keeping the audience stick to their seats till end of the programme. In what may be termed shayarana andaaz she narrated few very unheard nostalgic aspects of Rafi Saheb’s life. The show witnessed a large gathering which included distinguished personalities from the music fraternity.
