Port Blair, Dec 28: Decades old canon, believed to be of World War II era, buried inside the earth was found this afternoon at Shore Point area while some construction workers were digging earth for the construction of new structure for Ram temple.
As per sources, the workers and the residents those were present at the spot got panicked as they thought there might be a bomb too.
The matter was immediately informed to the Bambooflat Police Station and the work was also stopped.
People who are having a good knowledge of the history of Andaman believe that the Canon is of World War II era.
Andaman Sheekha has learnt that some staffs of Anthropological Survey of India will be visiting the spot tomorrow for a research. Further details are awaited.
