Port Blair, Oct 24: Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council alongwith Smti Rubana Aziz, Councillor, Ward No: 18 and other senior officials of the Council visited Garacharama area on today the 24th October,2017. During the visit the Civic Chief directed the officials to complete the work of construction of road behind Sultan Bakery area in a time bound manner. The team also visited the Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Garacharama and observed that there is an urgent need for the implementation of Science and Commerce stream for the benefit of the students residing in and around Garacharama area and construction of a compound wall for the Govt. Primary School, Garacharama.
The team also inspected water treatment plant area wherein it was noticed that due to heavy rain in the recent past the roads were spoiled badly and in order to prevent any untoward incident, the Chairperson directed the concerned officials to prepare necessary estimate for construction of road side drain and retaining walls as early as possible. The team further observed that during heavy rain water stagnated in and around Garacharama school campus which creates enormous inconvenience to the school students. The Chairperson directed the officials to appraise the situation with the APWD authorities and sort out the problem in a quick span of time. Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Chairperson also issued necessary instruction to the officials to take up the renovation work of the road leading to Kali Mandir area. The team also reviewed various ongoing developmental activities in the extended area.
