Diglipur, Oct 15: A Team of NITI Aayog under the leadership of Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog, Mr. Yaduvendra Mathur visited Diglipur today.
After reaching Diglipur they visited Ross & Smith Islands and interacted with the Deputy Commissioner, Revenue officials and Forest officers. The team also interacted with the tourists on beach, staff of IP & T and Forest officials.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Additional Secretary NITI Aayog Mr. Yaduvendra Mathur said that “this Technical committee is evaluating
the Holistic development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In First phase study of the Ross & Smith Islands, Evis Island, Long Island and Little Andaman is presently being conducted for the Holistic, sustainable and Livelihood development of the Tourism in these Islands. After study the Government will examine how the connectivity including, drinking water, Electricity can be improved in these tourist spots. For the better connectivity the Airstrip of Shibpur also discussed.” He said.
“For the development of Tourism Diglipur plays important place.
There is a huge potential in these Islands apart from importance of Maritime Economy. The Sagar Dweep village is very important for the development of Tourism in Diglipur, the Tourism plays important role in generation of Employment opportunities in Andaman. The skills related to tourism should be increased than the participation of the public will be increased,” he said.
The team visited Long Island early morning, apart from him Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Adviser NITI Aayog, Mr. Muralidharan Senior Research officer, Mr. DP Yadav, Commandant Coastal Security, MHA, Mr. Ram kumar Vijayan, Asst, Dir, Min of Tourism, Mr. Arvind Nautiyal, Dir Min of Environment Forest Climate Change, Mr. Ashok Sharma, Controller Min of Environment and Forest, Director Tourism, Mr. Amit Anand, Deputy Commissioner N & M Andaman Mr. Arawa Gopi Krishna also visited Diglipur.
