Sri Vijaya Puram, June 07: On 06 June 2026: Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Harinagar, met senior officials of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), namely Mr. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director; Mr. K. Dhanapalan , Deputy General Manager; and Mr. Manoj Kumar Majhi, Manager (Projects), and raised several important issues pertaining to Gram Panchayat Harinagar.
During the meeting, the Pradhan highlighted that roadside drains have not been constructed at several locations along National Highway-4 between Swadeshnagar Bridge and Jaipur Village under Gram Panchayat Harinagar. He emphasized that the absence of proper drainage causes extensive waterlogging and submergence of nearby areas during the rainy season. The Pradhan stressed that the construction of roadside drains is essential not only for the protection of adjoining habitations but also for the safety and longevity of National Highway-4. The Pradhan further brought to the notice of the officials the dilapidated condition of National Highway-4 from Swadeshnagar Bridge to Jaipur Village and requested immediate repair and restoration of the damaged stretches to ensure safe and smooth transportation for the public. Another important issue raised by the Pradhan was the non-construction of bus shelters with attached toilet and bathroom facilities at five designated locations along the highway. He pointed out that such facilities are part of the provisions under the National Highway project but have not yet been constructed despite repeated requests and correspondence from the Gram Panchayat.
After patiently hearing the concerns raised by the Pradhan, the NHIDCL officials informed him that the contract for the concerned works has recently been awarded to a new contractor. They assured the Pradhan that sincere efforts would be made to address and resolve all the issues raised at the earliest possible time. Giving a patient hearing to the issues affecting the residents of Gram Panchayat Harinagar and for their positive assurance. He expressed hope that the pending works, including the construction of roadside drains, repair of the damaged highway stretches, and establishment of bus shelters with toilet and bathroom facilities, would be taken up and completed without further delay in the larger interest of the public. The Pradhan further stated that the timely completion of these works would greatly improve public safety, transportation, and overall infrastructure in the panchayat area.
