Port Blair, Oct 15: On 12/10/17, HC/MukeshCharan, PC/Ashim Roy and PC/Sunil Xess along with sniffer dogs of A & N Police were on a routine checking duty at Airport Cargo Terminal. During checking sniffer dog Oran identified five suspicious fruit packets which were later on found to be containing 1070 pouches of Baghban Zarda(chewing tobacco).This isthe second largest recovery of banned tobacco by CID unit in this year.
The said consignment was booked by one Mr. Mohd. Khurshid Anwar s/o Late Mohd. Idris, fruit vendor, resident of Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair. As per the procedure, Food Safety Officer was requested to reach the spot. The recovered tobacco was seized by the FSO under relevant section of law.
