Port Blair, Oct 03: The Lt. Governor Prof. Jagdish Muki on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi 2nd October 2017 declared Port Blair as Open Defecation Free City. At this occasion a declaration was signed by LG, Mr. Anindo Majumder, Chief Secretary, Mr. SCL Das, Pr. Secy (UD), Mr. I.P Singh, Chairperson PBMC, Mr. Yashpal Garg, SecretaryPBMC. Port Blair, Oct 03: The Lt. Governor Prof. Jagdish Muki on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi 2nd October 2017 declared Port Blair as Open Defecation Free City. At this occasion a declaration was signed by LG, Mr. Anindo Majumder, Chief Secretary, Mr. SCL Das, Pr. Secy (UD), Mr. I.P Singh, Chairperson PBMC, Mr. Yashpal Garg, SecretaryPBMC. Mr. I.P Singh, Chairperson PBMC informed that 336 individual toilets and 291 Community Toilet seats were constructed to make the city Open Defecation Free. He appeal the public for using the toilets that the council has made lot of efforts in this direction and now citizens are required to use these toilets and do away with the practice of open Defecation. He also stated that since the Port Blair has declared Open Defecation Free City any violation will lead to levy of Penalty of Rs. 500/- as per bye-laws notified. Mr. I.P Singh, Chairperson PBMC further stated that he is sure for co-operation of the citizen and there will be no need to take action for penalization.
