Port Blair, September 26: The long pending demands of denizens for CCTV surveillance at Bhathubasthi has recently been fulfilled by the Traffic Police Unit of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
As per reports, all the four sides of the Bhathubasthi Junction are presently being monitored by the CCTV cameras and all the CCTV cameras are also having the capability of night vision, it is learnt.
The entire Bhathubasthi area which is now also believed to be one of the biggest bazaars of the city is witnessing a lot of illegal activities in the recent days and the step of the Traffic Police Unit is highly appreciated by the denizens.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha recently, the Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, Mr Umar said that the CCTV cameras have been fixed in the Bhathubasthi area because it is a prominent place where maximum vehicles move in a day. “It was a long pending demand of the citizens to install a CCTV camera in the area,” said the Traffic DySP.
Mr Umar further said that the area will now be monitored by the Traffic Police Personnel 24 hours with the Help of CCTV Cameras and through the CCTV Cameras it will also be easy for the Traffic Police Unit to check the Traffic Violators in the Junction as one of the Cameras has been fixed only to capture the number plates of vehicles.
“Many other crucial areas have also been identified by the Traffic Police Unit where in coming days the Unit is also trying to fix CCTV Cameras,” DySP added.
