
Port Blair, Sep 15: “There is no better service than serving the people and safeguarding the society and the nation”, said the Lt. Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi while addressing the Passing Out Parade of the 70th batch of new recruit constables at the Police Lines Parade Ground here this morning. Exhorting the newly recruited constables to perform their duties and responsibilities as per the oath they took during the initiation, the Lt. Governor said, from this day onwards, the new recruits must work with dedication to the expectation of the society and the Administration.Port Blair, Sep 15: “There is no better service than serving the people and safeguarding the society and the nation”, said the Lt. Governor said, from this day onwards, the new recruits must work with dedication to the expectation of the society and the Administration.
The Lt. Governor said, the newly recruited police personnel are now stepping into such a service, where they are required to protect the life and property of the people, fight social evils and book the unlawful people. They are well trained in all aspects of policing such as leadership, discipline, courage, will power and decision making. They must work in the interest of the people and the society and discharge their duties in an unbiased manner, he said.
Referring to the various challenges the Police is facing, the Lt. Governor said that the incoming police personnel should be prepared to counter every challenge, which include anti social elements, intruders from neighborhood, cyber crime, terrorists and social evils, and must display their best and utilize the skills and trainings they have received during the training period, he said and expressed happiness that nine tribals, including seven Nicobarese and two Great Andamanese are among the new recruits. In her welcome address, the Director General of Police, Smt. Nuzhat Hasan congratulated the new recruits and expressed hope that they will devote themselves to the cause of the people and the society. The Principal, Police Training School, Smt. Usha Rangnani, while presenting the report of the School, informed that the new constables have been trained in all aspects of policing, which include weaponry handling, driving, law and order as also in sports and games. She also administered the oath to the new recruits.
As many as 107 new recruits have passed out the 12 months long training imparted to them in the Police Training School, Prothrapur, of which 77 are men and 30 are women. A spectacular parade, besides skill display was presented by the new recruits on the occasion.
