
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 21: The Anti-Narcotics Police Station has seized 1.285 Kg of illicit ganja and arrested one accused person during a special operation conducted on 21.08.2026 at the Old Airport Terminal near the exit gate, VSI Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, carried out the operation. The team included ASI Sanjay Yadav Rao, HC(SG)/ Tamil Selvam, PC/ Raja Rao, PC/ Anup Das and LPC/Tamil Selvi.
During the operation, the team intercepted Mijanur Sardar, S/o Mr.Latif Sardar, (25) years, Private Labour, permanent resident of Pangaskhali, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal – 743329, and presently residing in a rented house at Wimberlygunj, who had arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on 21.08.2026 via Air India Express. Upon checking his luggage, 1.285 Kg of Ganja was recovered, which has been concealed inside his bag. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under the NDPS Act, 1985. Investigation is in progress to crack the supply chain and apprehend other co-accused persons involved in the case.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Deependra Kumar Singh, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Mr. Avnish Kumar, DANIPS, Superintendent of Police (CID), A&N Islands.
