Port Blair, August 28: The People of Long Island mostly those are posted at Long Island are suffering tremendously because of the bad network coverage in the region. This is sad to note that now-a-days, people of the Island have to come all the way to Long Island Jetty to get a BSNL mobile network so that they can talk to their relatives, family members etc.
As per reports, the Long Island is having a Tower of BSNL in the Island with 2G device but the tower is of no use. Andaman Sheekha has learnt that the BSNL office of the area got some new equipments to install but due to negligence or lack of staff support by the BSNL the equipments have not been installed yet, leaving public of the Island in deep trouble.
“I can only talk to my family members in the early morning hours and during the night time since I have been posted here and cannot talk to my family members whenever I want because to get a network in mobile I have to go to the Long Island Jetty,” said a Government Servant in case of anonymity.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, few residents have requested the administration and higher authorities of BSNL to solve the problem soon so that they can talk to their family members at any point of time.
“We are not demanding for Broadband or good internet facilities only network for mobile communication is enough for us,” said another resident of the area.
