Port Blair, Aug 28: As part of community policing initiative by Andaman and Nicobar Police, a private Auto Drivers’ meeting was convened at PS Havelock Conference Hall in which 37 auto drivers participated. The SHO, Havelock welcomed the participants and informed them about the reason for holding such meeting. During the meeting the following points were raised and some directions were also given to them such as:- to follow the traffic rules & regulations and to avoid Drunken/Over Speed driving for preventing any untoward incidents and to make a sequence system of parking in order to avoid traffic jam and ensure easy movement for passengers as well as vehicular traffic, always take charges as per meter, don’t refuse to ferry passengers, avoid parking vehicle in the busy zone / near road side, carry proper and updated documents as per rules and regulations, to maintain cordial relationship with the tourists and to avoid any misbehavior and to report to the police station in case of any problem. Further, they were motivated to participant in the events like Swatch Bharath Abhiyan, Traffic Week/Rally, Blood Donation Camp etc. to create awareness among the common people.
They were directed to follow the instructions meticulously to ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicular traffic.
