Port Blair, Aug 28: As part of community policing initiative by Andaman and Nicobar Police, a private Boat Operators’ meeting was convened at PS Havelock Conference Hall in which 40 Boat Operators participated. The SHO welcomed the participants and informed them about the reason for holding such meeting. During the meeting the following points were raised and some directions were also given to them such as: to ensure safety of tourists, to maintain proper sequence wise trip system for each boat, to ensure that vessels proceed on voyage only in calm and settled sea conditions, not to disturb/Pollute Ecological balance of the corals near Elephanta Beach, not to cruise boats over speed limit.Port Blair, Aug 28: As part of community policing initiative by Andaman and Nicobar Police, a private Boat Operators’ meeting was convened at PS Havelock Conference Hall in which 40 Boat Operators participated. Some important directions were also given to boat operators for safe operation such as :-
o Always carry safety equipments such as life jackets, First Aid Kit and communication equipments without fail and make sure every tourist on board wears life jacket.o The tourist boat operators were strictly advised not to carry excess tourist beyond the capacity of the boat.o Avoid misbehavior with tourists.o Rescue boats should be present without fail till the closure of all activities.o Boat Operators should follow the PMB rule/Weather report strictly.o Boat Operators should not move vessels in drunken/unhealthy conditions.o Boat owners are advised to follow the inland vessel rules and maintain all relevant documents.o To maintain proper movement register of all tourist and their operators.
