Port Blair, August 27: A flash protest was organized by a large group of local unemployed youths in front of the Secretariat, Port Blair on 25th August afternoon, to demand removal of self marking system for the recruitment of various posts in the Secretariat, announced on 12th August via Print Media. Around 70-80 local unemployed youth took part in the protest.
As per reports, all the local unemployed youths went to meet the Chief Secretary on 25th August to keep their demand in front of him but later they alleged that they did not get proper assurance and that was the reason they decided to sat on protest on the same day.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the local unemployed youths said that the 27 posts for Lab Assistant, Tally Clerk, Enumerator etc was announced for recruitment by the Secretariat on 12th August, 2017 and as per the advertisement the recruitment process for the same will be held via Self Marking System which is totally against the youths.
“We have passed 10th and 12th from CBSE Board which have its own standards compared to State Boards that’s the reason we have not scored enough marks and if the administration sticks to the self marking system none of the Locals will get job. Sadly adding to our pain, the administration does not have any domicile policy,” said a local unemployed youth.
The Local Unemployed Youths also told Andaman Sheekha that the administration must conduct the a proper competitive exam for the selection process of the same and if the administration doesn’t change the selection process then the local unemployed youths will hold a mega protest.
The protest continued till one hour and soon a massive police force reached the spot. The protest was later called off.
Mr Sanjay Meshack, the Councilor Ward Number 23 and convener of Aam Aadmi Party also supported the Local Unemployed Youths in the protest.
