Port Blair, August 07: On 3rd August, a women was admitted in G B Pant with serious neck injuries. As per police she was attacked by a man, with whom she was living before the incident. The lady however, succumbed to her injuries on the next day. After death of the victim the attempt to murder case registered in the Aberdeen Police Station was converted into a Murder case.
On 3rd August the accused reportedly brought the lady to the GB Pant Hospital at 0130 hrs, claiming that she had fallen from the Bike and after hospitalizing her he escaped to Kolkata.
Taking immediate action in this regard the Special Squad of Aberdeen Police Unit was immediately given the task to move Kolkata and apprehend the accused.
The Team consisting of Sub-Inspector Shiju Kumar, Head Constable Vijay Shankar and Head Constable Shiv Kumar reached Kolkata the next day i.e 04th August and after number of efforts the team apprehended the accused from a Naxalite area at Nandigram Village of Meodnapur District within 48 hours.
Sources said that the Special Squad of Aberdeen Police Team showed tremendous courage to arrest the accused in the aforesaid area.
The team has already taken the Transit Remand of the accused at Haldia CJM Court and is said to be coming back tomorrow with the accused Shiek Sahil Pervez, 19 years. Further, details in this regard is awaited.
