Port Blair, August 06: In a yet major initiative, several prominent youth businessmen of these islands have formed Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries (YCCI) in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to encourage and promote youths of these islands towards business.
Addressing a press conference at the Megapode Nest Resort, Port Blair, Mr Tanveer Singh, President, Youth Chamber of Commerce announced the formation of YCCI.
Informing about YCCI, Mr Tanveer said that in his due course of travelling to different islands like Havelock, Neil and Diglipur, he ended up meeting with many youths who want to start a business and also want a better understanding of the business environment and policies and schemes available to the islanders and youth.
Mr Tanveer further said that the YCCI would act as a platform to show the path and process to execute and understand a business, also create an employment exchange where people looking for jobs can upload their resumes on their website to send across to the YCCI office, and which would be circulated among the members and the unemployed youths could be hired.
He mentioned about a sudden surge and the wave, after which YCCI was created in a week time by registering 120 youth members and having more than 300 enquiries. The members are from all over Diglipur, Havelock, Neil and even Kamorta islands.
“We will take this organization forward on a pan INDIA level by opening chapters of YCCI In metro cities like Bombay, Calcutta, Delhi and Chennai in the coming year. I urge the fellow youths of these Islands to join and take benefit of this organization and make the economy of the Islands a better and bigger one,” Mr Tanveer said.
Further addressing the Press Conference, General Secretary Sashank Puria said that YCCI is the voice of Young Entrepreneurs. He informed that YCCI is focused at developing the youth and encouraging the youth to becomes leaders and that to aim at channelizing the energy in the right direction for the betterment of the entire society and upcoming future.
He informed that YCCI is focused at creating a conducive business environment by providing an equal platform to the youths of every part of the islands.
During his speech he mentioned that the youths of today know to set goals and are focus towards achieving their educational goals & professional goals.
“All he needs is a slight push and a small support to stand when he falls,” Mr Sashank said.
Also various outreach programs for empowering women entrepreneurs and also women wanting to do business shall be empowered by giving skill trainings. This would not only help improve their socioeconomic status; but also increase the economic viability of the entire society.
“A lot of emphasis shall be given to make the youth aware about the various government schemes of GOI,” Mr Sashank said He also informed that the website of YCCI shall act as an HR forum and shall be help job seekers and opportunity providers meet each other and that suitable opportunity shall be provided to one and all.
He informed that YCCI in their membership drive has decided zero membership fees for the women entrepreneurs. A vote of thanks was presented by MA. Tamheed, Joint Secretary, YCCI.
