Port Blair, Aug 06: The people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are wondering whether the Administration in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is active or has gone into prolonged hibernation.
This is because situation in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is going from bad to worse and it seems that the massive Administration governed by one man rule, has no clue about the sufferings of public.
In last few months these Islands have witnessed several dharna and road blocks on different issues but sadly the Administration has failed to address the problems of people of these Islands.
While it is now-a-days too difficult to reach and meet top officers by general public, the PRI members on the other hand are truly powerless and helpless.
The Pathetic condition of Andaman Trunk Road is perhaps the glaring example of utter failure of our Administration. The present condition of ATR shows that how helpless and clueless Andaman Administration is.
While people are suffering due to bad roads, the Administration is unable to solve the problem.
Here the crocodile attacks are also continuing in many parts of these Islands. A few months back there was a massive protest at Tushnabad area after a case of crocodile attack but sadly situation has not changed yet.
Similarly the power crisis is yet another example that how the Administration has failed to ensure proper power supply in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Forget about different remote Islands, at Port Blair and entire South Andaman region there is huge power crisis for which people of these areas are suffering heavily.
Adding to the pain cases are suicide, rape and child abuse are continuously coming up in media showing that something has seriously gone wrong in Andaman society and the Administration has failed to even understand the problem.
Since last several decades people of these Islands are only getting assurances of a better life but in reality things are unbelievably horrible. Poor internet connectivity is perhaps the one of the biggest reason why these remote Islands are not developing.
Islanders wish that if 10 percent of development, mentioned in most of the Republic Day and Independence Day speeches have had actually taken place in Andaman, life in these remote territory would have been much better.
Perhaps this is the reason why people of these Islands are now demanding a body like Pradesh Council, which will atleast ensure that voice of problems of public is heard. As anger is brewing among general public of these Islands, it is expected that soon the Administration is going to face a massive protest in coming future.
