Port Blair, July 23: During Zero hours on 21.07.2017,Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament has raised the issue of irregularity in disbursement of Widow Pension, Old age pension, destitute allowances and for Handicap allowances.
In his submission, it is expressed that the beneficiaries are approaching the bank from a considerable distance after spending huge amounts towards their journey, but unfortunately after rendering another considerable period of time in the queue of the bank, they are deprived due to non-crediting of their admissible amount in their saving account of the respective bank within the prescribed time period.
Shri Ray, M.P. further stated that the living cost in Andaman has been increased tremendously and the amount of Rs: 2000/- now being paid to the beneficiaries as a pension/allowance is very meager and not manageable in the present situation.
In view of the above position, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, M.P through the Parliament appealed to the Central Government for timely payment of Old age pension, Widow Pension, Handicap allowance and destitute allowance to the beneficiaries; As soon as admissible amount is credited in bank account, an SMS alert should be sent to the beneficiaries; The pension and allowances are to be enhanced from Rs: 2000/-(Two thousands) to Rs: 3000/-(three thousands) per month.
